Zalto Glasses: Are They Worth It?

Zalto Glasses: Are They Worth It?

Zalto Glasses are highly regarded in the wine industry for their quality and consistency. Undoubtedly, high-quality stemware can make wine taste better, and any tasting a nicer experience.

Having said that, Zalto wine glasses are costly and delicate too. If you’re a wine enthusiast getting started, more affordable alternatives are probably better, as long as you go for crystal stemware. However, if you want to take your passion for wine to the next level, Zalto glasses are worth it. Glassware is an investment — one that pays dividends every time you use it.

The Size and Shape of the Wine Glass Matters

The size and shape of wine glasses are essential because they alter how the wine is experienced.

Large bowls allow for a wider surface area, which means more air contact. Large bowls can also capture the wine’s aromas, making them easier to pick up. Small bowls are best suited for wines served at colder temperatures, especially if not overly aromatic, like most white wines.

Universal wine glasses are neither too large nor too small, so they work well with most wine styles. You can even pour sparkling wine into a universal wine glass with successful results (although you lose some effervescence in the process.)

Zalto Unique Features

Thin and lightweight. The most noticeable feature of Zalto wine glasses when holding them is their slim build and lightweight. This is paper-thin crystal, and the rim is equally delicate. Of course, crystal is a resistant material, but you want to be careful when handling Zalto stemware.

Universal. Although Zalto offers a wide range of wine glasses, they all serve several purposes and are suitable for many wine styles. A Zalto Universal glass works with white and red wines, while their Burgundy and Bordeaux wine glasses are more specific. Zalto also has wine glasses for sweet and sparkling wine.

Take Care of Your Glassware

Cleaning wine glasses can be a straightforward process, but here are a few tips to ensure every glass you use is clean and shiny.

First, rinse the glass with warm water to remove lingering wine or food remnants. Then, place the glass in the sink and pour a few drops of odorless liquid dish detergent.

Swirl the detergent in the glass until all the interior surfaces are covered, and then let it sit for 1-3 minutes. This should remove any odors or stickiness that may have accumulated in the glass.

The next step is to rinse the glasses thoroughly with warm water and then place them on the rack to dry. Make sure you always hand wash your wine glasses and never put them in the dishwasher, as this can damage the stemware.

Where are Zalto Glasses Made?

Yes, Zalto Glasses are amongst the finest glassware on the market, and although they are pricey, they are a wonderful investment. Here’s the quick story behind Zalto glasses.

Zalto is a sixth-generation company specializing in mouth-blown glassware. The raw materials are the best of the best, and the talent of glass blowers is truly something. Although blown glass has its roots in Venice, Italy and the Zalto family can trace its roots to the historic city, today, Zalto wine glasses are made in Neunagelberg in Lower Austria. Glass-blowing traditions in Zalto go back to the 14th century!
